Helping a national conservation network communicate its role, grow member engagement, and connect US-based organisations with the wider global work of IUCN.

The Challenge

The US National Committee of IUCN brings together member organisations, government agencies and Indigenous Peoples’ organisations working toward a shared vision for nature in the United States and globally.

They needed a website that could clearly explain who they are, why the Committee exists, and how members can participate — without overwhelming visitors with institutional complexity. The site had to serve several audiences at once: existing members, prospective members, conservation partners, event attendees, and people looking for current IUCN-related news.

The challenge was to make a global conservation organisation feel accessible, organised and credible at a national level.

What We Built

A structured WordPress website designed to present the Committee’s mission, membership value and ongoing activity in a clear, trustworthy way.

The site gives visitors a simple path into the organisation — whether they want to learn about the Committee, understand member benefits, join the network, attend an event or keep up with the latest news.

  • Clear mission-led homepage — positioning the Committee around cooperation, conservation and the shared IUCN vision for nature
  • Membership pathways — dedicated content explaining how organisations can join and what participation offers
  • Member benefits section — highlighting influence, collective voice, partnerships, networks, knowledge and capacity building
  • Events and news structure — making it easier for the Committee to share meetings, conferences, updates and member activity
  • Global context — connecting the US National Committee with major IUCN initiatives such as the World Conservation Congress
  • Accessible information architecture — helping visitors move quickly between About, Join Us, Events, News and member information
  • Ongoing hosting and maintenance — keeping the site secure, stable and available for an organisation with an important public-facing role

About the Client

The US National Committee of IUCN was founded in 2017 to encourage cooperation among IUCN members in the United States and support their contribution to the programme and governance of IUCN.

IUCN is a global union of more than 1,400 government, civil society and Indigenous Peoples’ member organisations across more than 140 countries. Through the Committee, US-based members can collaborate, share knowledge, build capacity, develop policy advice and contribute to global conservation priorities.

The site supports that work by giving the Committee a practical digital home — one that explains its purpose, promotes participation and helps member organisations stay connected.
